National E-Commerce Demonstration Base Opens in Shekou Net Valley
A National E-Commerce Demonstration Base has earlier officially
opened in Shekou Net Valley in Shenzhen. Since Net Valley was
established five years ago, a total of 419 enterprises have moved in and
the annual output value of the industrial park has grown 25 folds,
laying a sound foundation for the clustering of e-commerce operators.
The business in Shekou Net Valley embraces three major areas, namely
mobile internet, e-commerce, and Internet of Things (IoT).
Up to now, 419 well-known mainland and foreign Internet, e-commerce
and high-tech companies have established a foothold here, including
IBM, Philips, Intertek, Kemai Technologies and United Creation
Technology (UCT), creating a strong industrial clustering effect.
In the last five years, the annual output value of Net Valley rocketed
from Rmb2,000 to Rmb50,000 per square metre. As at the end of 2014,
total output value of the industrial park exceeded Rmb20 billion.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Shekou Net Valley National E-
Commerce Demonstration Base, Yang Tianping, general manager of
China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone Co Ltd, disclosed that Shekou
Net Valley will be welcoming its 520th tenant – the Apple South China
purchasing centre.
It is understood that Apple’s presence in Shekou Net Valley is not in the form of a direct sale store but a sourcing centre, which is in effect the company’s regional headquarters in southern China. The centre handles mobile phone sales as well as other businesses.
