More than two millennia ago, the diligent and courageous people of Eurasia explored and opened up several routes of trade and cultural exhange that linked the major civilizations of Asia, Europe and Africa, collectively called the Silk Road by later generations.
When Chinses President Xi Jinping visited Central Asia and Southeast Asia in September and October of 2013, he raised the initiative to jointly build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21th-Century Maritime Silk Road (hereinafter referred to as the Belt and Road)
(2) Why is "the Belt and Road Initiative" proposed ?
The initiative to jointly build the Belt and Road embraces the shift toward a multipolar worls, econimic globalization, cultural diversity and greater IT application. It is designed to uphild the global free trade regime and the open world economy in the spirit of open regional cooperation.
(3) What benifits could "the Belt and Road Initiative" bring ?
More stuff can move around the world more easily, which means people could buy stuff in lower price from all over the world, especially products made in China. People can travel more easily,and build thing countries need.
